About Mount Fuji Private Tour
This is an independent guide to private day tours between Tokyo and the Fuji Five Lakes. We are not a tour operator and we take no bookings. What we do is read the listings properly, check the fees and road rules behind them, and lay the options out side by side. The tours themselves sit on the private Mount Fuji tours from Tokyo list.
Why this site exists
A private Fuji day is an expensive booking made on thin information. The listings quote a price for the car, then bury a 2,800 yen line item that turns out to be a road toll. They promise the 5th Station without mentioning that private vehicles are banned from the road for ten weeks every summer. Some sell a driver service and let you assume you are getting a licensed guide.
None of that is hidden. It is spread across booking pages, prefecture notices and road authority timetables that nobody reads before a holiday. We put it in one place, next to the price, so the comparison is honest before you pay.
How the listings get here
Every tour on this site comes from GetYourGuide or Viator, and the prices, ratings, review counts, durations and group caps are read off the operator's own listing on the date shown at the top of the page. We do not inspect vehicles, meet drivers or audit operators, and we would not ask you to believe us if we said we did.
What we can check is whether a listing's claims hold up against public sources: prefecture road regulations for the Subaru Line, published tolls and bus fares, the Road Transportation Act on commercial plates, and long-run visibility records for the mountain. Where an operator states something in its own words, such as the honest note that a tour is a driver service rather than a guided one, we quote it rather than paraphrase it.
How the site pays for itself
The links to GetYourGuide and Viator are affiliate links. If you book through one, the platform pays us a commission and you pay the same price you would pay going direct. I grew up in Fujiyoshida, close enough to Arakurayama Sengen Park that the 398 steps were a childhood shortcut, and I have driven visitors between Tokyo and the Fuji Five Lakes since 2013. Most of my work is the same ten-hour loop these tours run: out on the Chuo Expressway before seven, Chureito Pagoda while the light is still low, the 5th Station when the road allows it, and back into the city before the evening traffic sets. I built this guide around the questions passengers ask in the car.
